The motto at the Buckley School is “Dare to be brilliant, creative . . . ”
That’s not hard for 14-year-old Paris Jackson. It’s in her bloodlines.
Jackson is the daughter of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Like her father, she has shown an interest in music, tweeting pictures of herself playing the bass and the ukulele. She’s also a cheerleader at the Buckley School in Los Angeles.
When the Griffins won their first CIF championship in school history last Saturday, 54-46 over San Luis Obispo Mission Prep, Jackson was front and center cheering on the team to history.
Jackson, who has over 1 million followers on Twitter, tweeted a picture (right) of her taken by MaxPreps at the game with the caption “lol this may just be the best picture ever.”
Buckley is an independent K-12 school with an enrollment of 790. Of those students, 319 are in the Upper School or grades 9-12. The tuition and fees for students in grades 6-12 is slightly more than $36,000 a year.
It is against school policy to confirm the enrollment of any student or the type of student Buckley targets. According to the Huffington Post, Jackson has been enrolled at the exclusive private
school since 2010.
On the court, Buckley (22-6) was able to win its first title in school history as a No. 4 seed in Division 5AA. As a result it received a No. 2 seed in the state tournament. It will host Escondido Calvin Christian in Wednesday’s first round at Birmingham High School.
“I’m so excited for our community,” head coach Mike Hamilton told Buckley’s website. “They are the reason we won CIF. Everyone has been so supportive and kind. We have been feeding off of their energy for several games now. Our fans, faculty and staff are continuing to carry us across the finish line.”
