Kickalicous gets another shot with Lions

Havard "Kickalicous" Rugland confirmed on Twitter that he was one of the kickers who had a tryout Monday with the Detroit Lions.

Rugland, a fan favorite after his popular Youtube video, got released by the Lions after going through training camp last summer.

David Akers, a 16-year NFL veteran, is the Lions' kicker, but he hasn't been as consistent as they expected. Akers is 15-for-20 on field goals, including a 31-yard miss just before halftime last week against Green Bay.

Akers was hampered last season when he was with the San Francisco 49ers after undergoing a hernia operation, but there's been no indication that he is having more health problems.

The Lions return to practice Tuesday in preparation of Sunday's game at Philadelphia.

Like all NFL teams, the Lions frequently bring in players at various positions for workouts throughout the season. It's quite possible they will continue to stick with Akers, but they at least sent the message that he needs to be more consistent in the final month of the season.
