Kevin Durant responds to Thunder hiring Billy Donovan
Well, good news, Thunder fans, Kevin Durant is heading into the last season of his contract excited about the team's future.
Durant has reached out to former Florida players Chandler Parsons and Mike Miller to learn more about new Thunder coach Billy Donovan, and the Oklahoma City forward says he's excited about the hire.
Donovan was hired Thursday afternoon after the Thunder fired Scott Brooks last week.
"I'm excited to learn from him and get better from him," Durant told ESPN.com of Donovan. Meanwhile, Durant went on to tell The Oklahoman Donovan's lack of NBA coaching isn't an issue. "If you know how to coach a team, that's all that matters."
Donovan and OKC general manager Sam Presti have been friends the past 10 years, so knowing that probably made Durant a bit more at ease.
"it's going to take some time," Durant said to The Oklahoman. "I think just for him over the summer is big for him to get to know more guys. I know he's going to do a good job because from what I've heard he works extremely hard, his attention to detail is one of the best and everybody's been telling me he's an NBA coach coaching in college."
