Kent State rolled over by Buffalo 79-54
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Byron Mulkey scored 27 points and Mitchell Watt had eight blocks to lead Buffalo over Kent State 79-54 on Wednesday night.
The Bulls (10-6, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) shot 52 percent from the field (26 of 50), with Mulkey making 9 of his 15 shots. Five of those came on 3-pointers for Mulkey, who also made all four of his free throws. Watt added 13 points for Buffalo, who outrebounded the Golden Flashes 39-26.
The Bulls turned it over 21 times, but played strong defense, limiting Kent State from the field.
The Golden Flashes shot just 33.3 percent from the field (18 of 54) and 4 of 12 from long range.
Kent State also struggled from the free-throw line, making just 14 of 21 (66.7 percent), compared to 21 of 25 by the Bulls (84 percent).
Randal Holt led the Golden Flashes (11-7, 2-2) with 16 points and Justin Greene added 15.
