COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (AP) Batsman Chamara Kapugedara will stand-in for suspended captain Upul Tharanga in the next two one-day international matches against India while opener Danushka Gunathilaka will miss the remainder of the series because of an injury to his elbow, Sri Lanka Cricket announced Friday.

Tharanga was handed a two-match suspension by the International Cricket Council for maintaining a slow over rate in the second one-day international on Thursday.

Sri Lanka has called up test captain Dinesh Chandimal and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne who had been dropped from the national team for more than a year to bolster the batting lineup, the board said.

Gunathilaka injured himself when he dived to stop a ball during India's innings. He has been advised to stay out of cricket for 10 days.
