JUCO TE Jerome Washington signs NLI to play for Hurricanes
Jerome Washington, a top-ranked junior college tight end, signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Miami.
Washington will be tasked with replacing John Mackey Award finalist Clive Walford, who graduates as the program's all-time leader in receptions, yardage and touchdowns for a tight end. He joins sophomore Standish Dobard (six catches, 115 yards) and freshman Chris Herndon on the depth chart.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder from Elizabeth, New Jersey, will have four years of eligibility with the Hurricanes. He was not heavily recruited out of high school.
Washington enrolled at Mercer County Community College after beginning his post-high school career at the Gunnery, a prep school in Connecticut, but played for the Gattaca Football club team this fall. He caught 24 passes for 510 yards and eight touchdowns.
