Jose Ramirez sets new RBI milestone against Royals

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:09 p.m. ET

Jose Ramirez stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the bases full of Indians. Moments later, he was standing on second, having slugged a bases-clearing double that gave the Tribe a 5-0 lead and effectively put the game out of reach for the Kansas City Royals.

Two innings later, Ramirez doubled again, plating two more runs.

The 5 runs batted in set a new career high for the Indians versatile defender. His previous high was 4, which he attained against the Minnesota Twins on September 30, 2015.

And all this production came from the #9 spot in the lineup. The last Indians hitter to drive in 5 runs from the #9 hole was Kelly Shoppach against the Chicago White Sox in 2009.

The 5th-inning double also bumped Jose's batting average up to .324.
