Jerry Jones on Romo's third interception
Tony Romo's outstanding play carried the Cowboys during the second half of the season. Without Romo throwing 16 touchdowns and only three interceptions during a critical seven-game stretch the Cowboys would have never had a chance to play for a division crown in Week 17.
But he also picked a terrible time to have maybe his worst game of the season. Romo tossed three interceptions and completed only 54 percent of his passes as the Cowboys fell 28-18 to the Washington Redskins on Sunday night.
Romo's first two interceptions came in the first half and had little effect on the outcome as the Cowboys were tied 7-7 at halftime. But the third interception in the final minutes was about as costly as they come.
"When I look at the last pick I also look at what it took to get us in a position to, if we could get possession we could take it on down," Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "That's not making excuses, but a guy made a good play on the ball but I know how we got in a position to keep possession and get on down there was also some of the good things that we experienced here."
Redskins linebacker Rob Jackson snatched a poorly-thrown pass to DeMarco Murray out of the air, giving Washington the ball on Dallas' 25 with a 21-18 lead and three minutes to play.
The Redskins scored a touchdown six plays later.
