Jerry Jones expects Romo to play Sunday and next five years
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones always enjoys looking into his crystal ball.
Not only does he believe Tony Romo to be good to go Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, but he expects the 34-year-old quarterback to play for several more years.
Romo, who is suffering from two fractures in his back, practiced Thursday.
"I'm anticipating him playing [Sunday], have no reason to think that he won't and this will be a nice little practice session for him out there today," Jones said, according to DallasCowboys.com. "But my expectations are for him to play."
Romo has been banged up the last few seasons and undergone two back surgeries in the last year. But Jones fully expects him to suit up for the Cowboys for the remainder of his $108 million, six-year extension he received during the offseason.
"I think Tony Romo has at least five years," Jones said. "I'm planning on him having at least five years of playing at a level that would allow us to be possible contenders from that position, and maybe not doing some things that he had earlier as well or maybe with the energy or the efficiency he has, but maybe doing other things better."
And once Romo is done playing, maybe he'll still get to work for Jones?
"He has aspirations at least certainly at this time, and he has said it to me, of eventually being an offensive coordinator in the NFL when he grows up," Jones said. "Seriously, in the future he has that kind of interest."
