A severe lake-effect snowstorm inundated Buffalo, forcing the NFL to move the scheduled Nov. 23 game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills to Monday, Nov. 24 at Ford Field in Detroit. It is the 20th game since 1992 that has been relocated or rescheduled due to weather conditions.
Cowboys owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] that the league did not contact the Cowboys about using AT&T Stadium for the alternate site for the Jets-Bills contest.
"We weren't called," said Jones.
"I guess it was travel time that made it a difference there, which is understandable. But certainly we were there."
While the Cowboys will be away in New York for a Sunday night game in MetLife Stadium to keep pace with the Eagles for the NFC East's top spot, Texas high school football playoff games will be played all weekend at AT&T Stadium. Even with such activity, Jones believes they still could have accommodated the Jets and Bills game.
"Of course, we got some great football games going on out there this weekend with the high school playoffs. But we could have managed the whole program. But we weren't asked to take a look at that."
