ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Tampa Bay Rays first baseman James Loney has dropped his appeal of a one-game suspension.
The lefty-hitting Loney decided to serve his suspension in Thursday night's game against Minnesota. The Twins' starting pitcher is left-hander Tommy Milone.
Loney played Tuesday and Wednesday after appealing the suspension and an undisclosed fine announced by Major League Baseball on Tuesday. He was penalized for making contact with umpire Paul Nauert after striking out and being ejected in Saturday's game at Oakland.
