J.R. Smith, family send flowers to mothers with babies in intensive care
The J.R. Smith family did a nice thing for a lot of mothers over the weekend, as Fox News Cleveland reports: Smith, his wife Shirley and daughter Demi delivered flowers to every mother in the Cleveland Clinic's neonatal intensive care unit.
The Smiths have been parents in the clinic since their daughter Dakota was born five months premature in January.
Shirley Smith credited J.R. for the idea to send flowers to each of the mothers facing similar situations are theirs, which she detailed in a blog post.
Smith closed her post with the following.
“My husband came up with the brilliant idea of getting all of the mothers in the NICU flowers today so we did just that. When the flowers arrived I pushed the cart and Demi placed an arrangement of flowers in every room...it was super special and we both enjoyed it. When Jr got there it was nap time for Kota Bear so she laid in her favorite spot (on her dads chest) and they both were out like a light. The joy in just watching them sleep was more than enough for me.. always remember that less is better and the best things in life are free! Have a blessed one.”
Dakota reached six pounds in May and continues to receive care at the Cleveland Clinic.
