CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving will not travel with the team to Brooklyn on Saturday, missing his second straight game.
His status for Sunday's home game vs. Indiana is undetermined.
Irving missed his first game of the season in Thursday's win over Orlando. He is listed as day-to-day with a bruised left knee, suffered Tuesday at Indiana.
An MRI showed no structural damage, and Irving played the fourth quarter of the Pacers game after suffering the injury in the third.
"From my standpoint during the game, I didn't think it was bad," said Cavs coach Mike Brown. "The trainer came back and said he went through all the tests. If Kyrie was hesitant, I wouldn't have put him back in the game. The trainer said we went through all the protocols with him. Kyrie said he was ready to go."
Irving missed 38 of 148 games during his first two seasons, leading to notions he may be injury prone. He said he wanted to play in all 82 games this year. Thursday was his first miss of 32.
"You'd love to have him," Brown said. "(But) he understands what he needs to do to take care of his body long term and not worry about the short term."
Prior to Friday's overtime win -- in which the Cavs struggled mightily at home against one of the league's worst teams -- the Cavs had lost six straight. They are an NBA-worst 2-14 on the road heading into Saturday's game at Brooklyn.
Irving leads the team with averages of 22.2 points and 6.1 assists.
