Ireland winger Fitzgerald out of Six Nations

DUBLIN (AP) Ireland winger Luke Fitzgerald will miss the Six Nations because of a knee ligament injury.

Fitzgerald was hurt in a training session on Friday and could be out for up to two months.

Ireland team manager Mick Kearney says Fitzgerald's ''foot got caught in the grass'' during a tackling drill.

Kearney said Tuesday ''it was fairly innocuous but very unfortunate and he's very unlucky to be out of the Six Nations.''

Ireland, which has won the last two Six Nations, is already without winger Tommy Bowe (knee) for the entire tournament.

The Irish start their defense of the title against Wales on Sunday.
