Iowa State trounces Kennesaw State 91-51

AMES, Iowa (AP) -- Freshman Melvin Ejim scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Iowa State trounced Kennesaw State 91-51 Wednesday night for its fifth straight win under new coach Fred Hoiberg.

Jake Anderson and Diante Garrett also scored 14 for the Cyclones (5-0), who jumped ahead by as much as 22 midway through the first half en route to their second victory by 40 or more points.

Iowa State opened the game with a 31-9 run and led by double digits the rest of the way against the Owls (2-4).

Kennesaw State briefly got within 10 late in the first half. But the Cyclones closed it with an 11-2 run and went ahead 66-40 midway through the second half.

Markeith Cummings had 18 points for Kennesaw State, which lost its fourth straight after an encouraging 2-0 start.
