Indians place Ryan Raburn on 15-day DL
CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster: Placed OF RYAN RABURN on the 15-day Disabled List with a strained left Achilles tendon (retroactive to August 19) Purchased the contract of OF MATT CARSON (#7) from AAA Columbus.
40-man move will be announced prior to game time (7:10PM ET) Raburn has missed 10 of the last 11 games since August 14 with continued soreness in his left foot and begins his third career stint on the Major League Disabled List today. He is hitting .270 (53-195) with 14 doubles, 15 home runs and 41 RBI in 70 games and currently sports a season OPS of .940. He is eligible for activation on September 3rd. Carson, 32, has spent the entire 2013 Minor League campaign at Triple-A Columbus where he has hit .252 (110-436) with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 14 home runs and 49 RBI while stealing 14 bases in 18 attempts (78%). The Temecula, CA native, who was signed in November to a Minor League contract with spring training non-roster invite, is hitting .270 (31-115, .773OPS) vs. left-handed pitching for the Clippers. He has appeared in 68 games in right field, 30 games in center and 38 games in left field at Triple-A and is hitting .329 (24-73, 12RBI, 22G) since July 31. Matt appeared in 26 games for the Minnesota Twins in 2012.
