Indians outright OF Matt LaPorta
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians outrighted disappointing Matt LaPorta to Triple-A Columbus and added four players to their 40-man roster.
LaPorta hasn't lived up to expectations since he was acquired in 2008 from Milwaukee as part of the trade for ace CC Sabathia. LaPorta began last season in the minors after undergoing hip surgery. He batted .241 with one homer and five RBIs in 22 games. In four seasons with Cleveland, he's batted .238 with 31 homers and 120 RBIs.
The Indians sent utilityman Brent Lillibridge to Columbus. He hit .216 with three homers and eight RBIs in 43 games.
The club also purchased the contracts of outfielder Tim Fedroff and right-hander Chen-Chang Lee from Columbus and right-hander Trey Haley and T.J. House from Double-A Akron. All four were added to the 40-man roster.
Right-hander Fabio Martinez was designated for assignment.
