Indians notes, Saturday April 16th
--RHP Joe Smith was officially activated off the disabled list Friday. Smith had been on the DL since the start of the season with a strained abdominal muscle.
--RHP Chris Perez, the Indians' closer, was not needed in the team's 8-2 win over Baltimore Friday. But Perez, who finished strong last year, is starting strong this year. Going back to last year Perez has not allowed a run in his last 23 appearances, which covers 25 innings. During that span, he has allowed seven hits, with 26 strikeouts and eight walks.
--C Carlos Santana, mired in a deep slump, was not in the starting lineup Friday. Santana is hitless in his last 20 at-bats and is hitting .205 overall.
--C Lou Marson started his third game of the season Friday, in place of slumping starting C Carlos Santana. Marson, who had an RBI single in the game, is 4-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI in his three starts.
--SS Asdrubal Cabrera was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI Friday, hiking his American League-leading RBI total to 14. Cabrera is hitting .302 with four home runs and 14 RBI. Last year in the month of April, he hit .300 with a home run and three RBI.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1.82 -- ERA of Indians starting pitchers over the last 11 games. The starters' record is 7-1 in that span.

--RHP Joe Smith (strained abdominal muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 22. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Akron on April 7, and was activated April 15.
--CF Grady Sizemore (left knee surgery in June 2010) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 29. He had been at Class AA Akron on an injury-rehab assignment and has been moved to Class AAA Columbus to continue his rehab.
--3B Jason Donald (broken left hand) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 22. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Akron on April 10, and he was scheduled to move to Class AAA Columbus on April 14. He likely will miss the season's first month.
--OF Trevor Crowe (right shoulder surgery in March 2011) went on the 60-day disabled list March 30. He will be out until at least late July.
