POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Haley Harrison, the Idaho State softball player who went public with her mental-health issues, has been hired by the school's sports information department.

The school announced Tuesday she will serve as assistant director of media relations. Harrison will work with softball, along with several other sports.

Harrison struggled with mental illness for most of her life and attempted suicide three times, first at 14. Harrison also lost her brother, Allan, to suicide when he was 20.

Harrison wrote a first-person account of her struggles with mental illness that was posted on the Idaho State athletics website in April, hoping it would help others get the help they need.

She graduated with a degree in sociology/criminology last year and will earn her master's degree in athletic administration this summer.
