The University of Minnesota men's hockey team was swept in a Friday-Sunday series against the No. 7 St. Cloud State Huskies with a 7-4 loss Sunday night at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.

St. Cloud State (11-3-0 overall) was unstoppable on the man advantage, getting four power play goals against Minnesota (4-7-0 overall).

Kalee Kossila scored in the first to get the Huskies off to a swift start. Gophers defenseman Jake Bischoff scored on the power play to knot the game, but his goal was answered with a quick goal from David Morley that gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.

Judd Peterson added some padding to the Huskies' lead with a power-play goal in the first minute of the second period. Then the Gophers cut that lead back down to one with a goal from Tyler Sheehy.

A five-minute major penalty and game misconduct called on Gophers defenseman Nick Seeler for a hit to the head proved costly, as Peterson quickly capitalized with a long blast for his ninth goal of the season and sophomore forward Patrick Russell chipped in a rebound to make it 5-2.

Gophers senior forward Leon Bristedt tipped in a power-play goal of his own to cut the Huskies' lead before the second intermission.

Minnesota brought in goaltender Nick Lehr in the third period for his first appearance of the season, but even a fresh goalie couldn't keep the Huskies from scoring yet another power-play goal -- this time by sophomore forward Blake Winiecki.

Gophers freshman forward Ryan Norman found himself in the right place at the right time to tip in his first career goal and make it a 2-goal game once again. Winiecki notched an empty-net goal for the last strike of the game to make it 7-4.

The Gophers next take the ice against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Mariucci on Dec. 4-5. Friday's 7 p.m. opener will be broadcast on FOX Sports North.
