Hurricanes land four-star recruit Trent Harris

The University of Miami tackled a big recruit Monday, when highly touted defensive end Trent Harris chose the Hurricanes over schools including his boyhood favorite Florida and Florida State.
Harris, from Winter Park High School, is a consensus four-star recruit in the class of 2014. Other schools interested in the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder reportedly included Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.
Hurricanes coach Al Golden continues to impress in rebuilding the Miami program while the school awaits hearing from the the NCAA regarding possible penalties stemming from the UM/booster Nevin Shapiro investigation. Harris' verbal commitment was the 24th in Miami's 2014 class.
Harris, who grew up being an avid Gators fan, told the Orlando Sentinel his decision was a difficult one.
"I liked Florida since I was little, but I'm not little any more," he told the Sentinel. "I needed to make a grown man's choice of what to do and what will be best to further my abilities. Florida just wasn't going to work out for me and so Miami is the best choice."
