Hurricane Ike is out of the Preakness with an injury in his left hind leg.

Trainer John Sadler says the 3-year-old colt may have reaggravated an injury he sustained last fall at Santa Anita.

Hurricane Ike won the Derby Trial on April 24 and was considered one of the top contenders to take on Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver in the second leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday at Pimlico.

Hurricane Ike was scheduled to fly from Louisville to Baltimore with several other Preakness contenders Wednesday, but assistant trainer Larry Benevidez said he noticed something was wrong with the horse early Wednesday morning.

Sadler said he was ``disappointed'' with the injury but doesn't expect it to be career-threatening and hopes Hurricane Ike can race again later this year.
