Hughes gives up 1, but Yankees edge Twins

Phil Hughes lowered his ERA to 6.06, giving up one run and four hits in 4 2/3 innings, but the Minnesota Twins fell 2-1 to the New York Yankees in spring training action Thursday.

Hughes allowed a solo home run to Billy McKinney in the second inning

Newcomer Zach Duke stepped in to finish the fifth inning. Fernando Rodney allowed an earned run on three hits, Addison Reed pitched a flawless seventh, Ryan Pressley allowed a hit in the eighth and Gabriel Moya struck out one in a flawless ninth.

Ehire Adrianza, Erick Aybar, Eduardo Escobar, Mitch Garver, Jake Cave and Ryan LaMarre had hits for the Twins.
