How Trevor Bayne's wife revealed pregnancy -- and his reaction
Two days after announcing on Twitter that he and wife Ashton are expecting their first child, Trevor Bayne revealed how he learned of the pregnancy.
Not surprisingly, the story is best told in the 2011 Daytona 500 champion's own words.
"I was shocked," Bayne said on Saturday morning at Pocono Raceway. "I was at the Richmond test, and normally if I'm gone she'll sleep in a little bit, but I got a call at 7 in the morning.
"I was like, 'What's going on? Is the house on fire?' And she says, 'Babe, I'm pregnant.' It was hard to keep that a secret at the test that day, but I was just really excited and pacing around the hotel room on the phone with her, so it was cool."
So how does the 24-year-old Roush Fenway Racing driver feel about the joining the ever-expanding ranks of Sprint Cup Series drivers who are dads?
"It's unbelievable," Bayne said. "I've been looking forward to this for a very long time. It's kind of hard to believe. I'll forget about it sometimes, but then you think about it and you're all excited again, so I can't wait for the little baby to be here in December."
