7:30pm - Medina Highland Hornets (13-0) vs. Glenville Tarblooders (12-1)
at Byers Field (Parma)

- Broadcast Team: Michael Reghi, Frank Stams, and Ryan Cavanaugh

- Replays: Fri. Nov. 29 at midnight; Sat. Nov. 30 at 5am and noon; Sun. Dec. 1 at noon; Wed. Dec. 4 at noon

The winner of this game will be one step closer to winning their school’s first ever football state title.

Although
this will be the Medina Highland Hornets’ first state semifinal, Head
Coach Tom Lombardo is a playoff veteran, winning the 2001 State
Championship with Lake Catholic. The Hornets slipped past their last two
opponents, including last Friday’s 24-21 win over Avon in the Region 4
finals seen live on SportsTime Ohio. Highland uses a read option offense
and can run and throw, while the defense is opportunistic, forcing
nearly 30 turnovers on the season.

The Glenville
Tarblooders are looking to become the first Cleveland Public School to
win a football state title. Glenville is new to Division II this season
after being a Division I force for several years. Their 2009 playoff run
ended with a loss in the D-I state championship to Hilliard Davidson,
and this is the Tarblooders third trip to the state semifinals. Coach
Ted Ginn Sr. and his staff have built a pipeline to The Ohio State
University, sending several top players to Columbus including future NFL
players Ted Ginn, Jr., Troy Smith, and Donte Whitner, among others.

7:00pm – Mentor Cardinals (12-1) vs. St. Edward Eagles (11-1) at InfoCision Stadium in Akron

- Broadcast team: Mike Cairns, Greg Frey, and Andre Knott

- Replays:  Sun. Dec. 1 at 3pm and 11pm; Mon. Dec. 2 at 5am; Tues. Dec. 3 at 7pm; Thurs. Dec. 5 at noon

Under the direction of Head Coach Steve Trivisonno, the Cardinals of Mentor return to the state final four for the second year in a row and the fourth time in the last eight seasons. This year’s team is the most balanced team Coach Trivisonno has taken to the state semifinals. On the season, the Cardinals have rushed for 3,105 yards and 35 touchdowns and have passed for 2,928 yards and 37 touchdowns. While the Cardinals are known throughout the buckeye state for their spread offense, their defense has been as equally impressive this season, especially in the playoffs. In their three playoff wins, the Cardinals have only allowed three points, and their opponents are averaging just 27.7 yards per game on the ground and 110.7 yards per game through the air. Mentor has posted five shutouts on defense this season.

Under the direction of Head Coach Rick Finotti, the Eagles of St. Edward are the #1 seed in Division I, Region 1. Last week, the Eagles recorded their third shutout of the season by defeating Austintown-Fitch 28-0 in the regional semifinals. This is the second time Coach Finotti has advanced to the state semifinals with St. Edward. Their last trip to the final four came in 2010, the same year the Eagles went on to claim their first state title. This season, the Eagles have amassed five thousand yards of offense and are averaging 43 points a game. Defensively in the playoffs, they’ve only given up seven points, and their opponents are averaging 103 yards per game on the ground and just 47 yards per game through the air.
