High school football team wins Thanksgiving rivalry game with crazy final play

There may not have been a better ending to a Thanksgiving football game this year than the one between in-city rivals Lynn Classical High School (MA) and Lynn English High.

After English scored what appeared to be the game-winning touchdown with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter, what ensued in the game's final seconds will be talked about for years to come.

English kicked off and managed to force a fumble on the return, which appeared to seal the victory with three seconds left on the clock. Fans rushed the field to celebrate, but they didn't see that a flag had been thrown on the play. English was penalized for offside on the kickoff, meaning that they needed to reset and kick again.

That would come back to haunt them.

Classical found some magic on the second kick return and ultimately managed to score a crazy touchdown with the help of a reverse and some good blocking. Senior running back Marcus Rivera was the player who managed to break a few tackles and find his way to the end zone for the game-winning touchdown in his final for Classical.

Not a bad way to end a high school career, I'd say.
