ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- The Miami Heat are sending rookie center Dexter Pittman to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Development League.

Pittman is expected to be with the Skyforce for about two weeks, though he could be recalled if necessary. He has not appeared in a regular-season game with Miami.

The Heat said sending Pittman down will give him the chance to get some in-game opportunities, and with Miami having very few practices scheduled over the next couple weeks because of its game and travel schedule, the move also provides him an opportunity for consistent play.

Pittman was the 32nd overall pick in this year's draft, after playing his college ball at Texas.

Miami announced the move during the fourth quarter of its game in Orlando on Wednesday night.
