Hawks re-sign guard Mack, release 7-game preseason slate
ATLANTA -- The Hawks had a busy Friday, just weeks before the commencement of training camp, re-signing guard Shelvin Mack and releasing the dates of their seven-game preseason schedule.
In 73 games with the club last season (including 11 starts), Mack averaged 7.5 points, 3.7 assists and 2.2 rebounds for the Hawks, while posting a stellar assist/turnover ratio (3.04) which ranked seventh in the NBA.
Mack also led Atlanta in assists 14 times, notching a season-high 12 against the New York Knicks on Nov. 16.
"Shelvin has proven himself to be an excellent fit in our program," said Hawks general manager Danny Ferry. "On the court, he plays well within our system and possesses a toughness and level of unselfishness that we truly value."
As for the preseason slate ... the Hawks will open exhibition play at home on Oct. 6, taking on the New Orleans Pelicans. Two weeks later, Atlanta will host Detroit (Oct. 18) and Charlotte (Oct. 20).
On the road, the Hawks will travel to Memphis (Oct. 11), Miami (Oct. 14) and Chicago (Oct. 16) ... before rounding out the preseason schedule Oct. 22 at San Antonio.
The Hawks' portion of the 82-game regular season launches with three outings against reigning division champions -- the Raptors on the road (Atlantic -- Oct. 29), Pacers at home (Central -- Nov. 1) and Spurs on the road (Southwest -- Nov. 5).
