Hanley the Great? Ramirez IS in Dodgers starting lineup

October 18, 2013

Hanley Ramirez wasn't in the Dodgers' original starting lineup for Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, but about a half hour before the first pitch, manager Don Mattingly had him batting cleanup and playing shortstop.
Earlier in the day, Mattingly said Ramirez, who has a hairline fracture in his left ribcage after he was hit by a pitch in Game 1, felt worse today. He did say it was possible that Ramirez could start if he felt better later in the day.
"If something would change before game time, we'd switch up," Mattingly said. "(If) all of a sudden, he's trying to do things and he could get loose, he may be in there. But I don't anticipate that.
Ramirez went hitless in the past two games and at times has appeared visibly in pain. But he was cleared to play by the Dodgers' training staff in both instances and apparently felt better after taking treatment Friday.
The Dodgers, behind in the best-of-seven series 3-2, must win tonight to force a deciding Game 7 on Saturday. The game will be televised by TBS at 5:30 p.m.
