Tuesday night was a good one for Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton.

Not only did Hamilton go 1-for-2 with a two-run single in his rehab appearance for Triple A Round Rock but he felt more comfortable than he has during the rehab process.

"Tonight I was able to stay back and do what I wanted to do," Hamilton said. "It felt good."

Hamilton flew out to right in the sixth inning in his first at-bat and then singled through the right side on the eighth inning off left-hander Joe Paterson.

Hamilton spent more time off the field Tuesday than on the field as he signed autographs for an hour pregame and another 30 minutes after the game. He didn't play until the sixth inning when he replaced Mitch Moreland as the designated hitter.

He was originally slated to sit in Wednesday's game but will now start.

As good as he felt in the game, the standing ovation he got coming to the plate in the sixth may have been the highlight.

"That was awesome," Hamilton said. "It wasn't packed but it was loud. Obviously it makes you feel good, puts a smile on your face. I felt comfortable and I feel like it was a cool feeling. I've been in big, big ballparks before and that was right up there with them."
