Guiton, Lowery among Big Ten players of the week
The Big Ten announced its weekly football awards Monday with a pair of players with Ohio ties being honored – Ohio State quarterback Kenny Guiton and Iowa defensive back B.J. Lowery, who is from Cincinnati.
Guiton shared Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week with Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon. It is the second week in a row Guiton was recognized, this time because the Houston Eisenhower product set a school record with six touchdown passes during a 76-0 win against Florida A&M on Saturday. Gordon rushed for 147 yards on 16 carries as the Badgers beat Purdue, and he leads the nation with 624 yards rushing this season.
Guiton and Gordon will share the field Saturday as Ohio State and Wisconsin clash at Ohio Stadium in prime time.
Lowery set an Iowa record by returning two interceptions for a touchdown as Iowa beat Western Michigan. The Cincinnati Hughes grad also had four tackles.
