MINNEAPOLIS -- Gophers offensive lineman Caleb Bak's football career is apparently over.
Bak, who was set to enter his redshirt senior season with Minnesota, tweeted (@0xluc1d) Tuesday that he won't return to the team in 2014: "big thanks to everyone that has supported me over the last 4 years. Sad to say I won't be returning for my final year of football #GoGophers"
The 6-foot-3, 302-pound Bak made nine starts at right guard as a junior in 2013 but missed the rest of the season with a concussion. He also started 11 games as a sophomore and made four starts as a redshirt freshman in 2011.
A Columbia Heights, Minn., native and graduate of Concordia Academy, Bak earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior in high school. He arrived on the Minnesota campus in 2010 but took a redshirt year as a freshman. If healthy, Bak would have once again been a starter on the Gophers' offensive line that returns plenty of depth from last season.
