Class 1B:
Glades Day 42 - Warner Christian 35
(Box Score)

Kelvin Taylor ran for 248 yards and five touchdowns on 44 carries as Glades Day (10-4) rallied for a 42-35 win over Warner Christian (13-1) in the FHSAA Class 1B state championship game at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

Warner Christian ran out to a 21-0 lead behind touchdown runs from Breon Allen and Marcus Dixon and an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Barron to Taylor Oldham. But Taylor notched his first touchdown run of the game on a 24 yard scamper with 4:10 to play in the first half.

Taylor, the son of New England Patriots running back Fred Taylor, erupted for four more touchdown runs in the second half, including three in the telltale fourth quarter. The sophomore's 44 carries set an FHSAA Finals record.

The state championship was the second straight for the Gators, who topped Warner Christian 27-20 in an overtime thriller in last year's Class 1B championship.

Allen finished with 147 yards and a touchdown, and Dixon ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the loss for the Eagles. The runner-up finish was the third straight for Warner Christian.

Class 1A:
Trinity Christian 27 - American Heritage 10

Senior running back Andrew Buie ran for 242 yards and four scores as Jacksonville Trinity Christian topped Delray Beach American Heritage 27-10 in the FHSAA Class 1A state championship game.

Buie ran for touchdown runs of two and 20 yards in the first half to give Trinity a 13-0 lead, but Troy Manheimer's 46-yard field goal cut the lead to 13-3 just before the half.

A two-yard touchdown run from Greg Bryant cut the Conquerors' lead to 13-10 with 5:50 left in the third quarter, but Buie ran for his third score of the night -- this time from 54 yards out -- to push the lead back to 10 at the end of the quarter.

American Heritage threatened to score again early in the fourth, but Anthony Jordan stuffed Jeramy Gaskins at the line of scrimmage on fourth-and-1 at the Trinity 26 yard line to turn the ball back over to Trinity.

Trinity put together an 11-play, 73-yard drive on the ensuing possession, which was capped off by Buie's final score of the night, to put American Heritage away for good.

Marvel Taylor carried the ball nine times for 67 yards for the Conquerors (12-2). American Heritage (10-4) was led by 87 yards rushing from Nestor Lantigua. Cameron Posey had 74 yards receiving for the Stallions.

The game was a rematch of last year's 1A championship game, which American Heritage won 30-20.
