Girlfriend question leads to cringe-worthy answer from Leafs' Joffrey Lupul

Well, that was awkward.

Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Joffrey Lupul was interviewed by one of the team's young TV reporters while visiting a children's hospital Thursday. The intrepid reporter wasted no time getting right to the point, asking if he had a girlfriend.

A flustered Lupul was clearly caught off guard and hemmed and hawed while giving the following answer:

"Aww ... that's an interesting one. Um ... no, but kind of. I don't even know how to explain it."

That was all in the first 12 seconds — it doesn't even count the whole other 30 seconds of uncomfortable chit chat that follows.

Granted, the real uncomfortable moment for Lupul probably came off camera, after his nongirlfriend girlfriend actually saw the footage.
