Pitcher Dillon Gee and infielder Daniel Nava opted to become free agents on Tuesday after the Kansas City Royals outrighted both players to Omaha (AAA).

Gee, 30, bounced between the Royals' starting rotation and the bullpen last season. Gee threw for 125 innings in 33 games, starting 14 of them. He finished the season with an 8-9 record and a 4.68 ERA.

Nava, 33, was acquired by the Royals in August from the Los Angeles Angels. He spent only nine games with Kansas City, posting one hit in 12 plate appearances.
