Alex Malzone has only been a Wolverine for about three weeks, but the future Michigan quarterback has already made his first attempt to write a chapter in one of the most storied rivalries in sports.
Malzone, a four-star quarterback prospect from Bloomfied, Mich., who verbally committed to Michigan May 12, traveled south to Columbus on Tuesday to take part in an Elite 11 Regional event. He performed well enough to earn an invite to the national Elite 11 Finals and Nike's national football showcase The Opening, accomplishments that led him to crow a little on his way back to what legendary Ohio State head coach Woody Hayes called, "That State Up North".

Whether Malzone turns out to be more Jim Harbaugh (who guaranteed a victory over the Buckeyes in 1986 and delivered) or Chad Henne (the only Michigan player to go 0-4 as a starting quaterback against Ohio State) remains to be seen, but he took the initial feedback from his Twitter trash talk in stride.

Of course it will be a while before Malzone gets a chance to deliver on his boast. He will still be in high school this fall when the Wolverines try to get their first win at Ohio Stadium since 2000, when Drew Henson threw three touchdown passes and ran for another for Michigan in a 38-26 upset of the Buckeyes.
