JUPITER, Fla. – Shortstop Rafael Furcal was scratched from the lineup for a second straight day with tightness and stiffness in his upper back and neck area.

Furcal suffered the injury while lifting weights in the weight room.

"They want to give me another day," Furcal said. "When I started doing stuff I started feeling some stiffness. I felt good but when I started the game it's a little different because in the game you have to be ready 100 percent.

"I feel pretty good. It's spring training and when anybody feels anything, they want to cut it out and be ready for tomorrow. I hope tomorrow I'm ready to go."

Furcal signed a two-year, $14 million deal with the Cardinals in the offseason. He has played just two games this spring and has two hits in five at-bats.
