FSU climbs into top 10, Florida falls two spots in AP poll
The AP and coaches polls have slightly different views on who is better in early September - Florida State or Florida.
Miami has also returned to the top 25, tying with TCU for the 24th spot in the coaches poll.
The Hurricanes could be ranked in both polls with a win at home on Saturday against Florida.
Florida State and Florida have flip-flopped in the Associated Press top 25 rankings that were released on Tuesday.
The Seminoles moved up one spot to No. 10 in the AP poll by virtue of Monday night's 41-13 rout of Pittsburgh. Voters were likely swayed by the prime time performance of the Seminoles and quarterback Jameis Winston, who had five combined touchdowns and completed 92 percent of his passes.
Florida gained a spot to No. 9 in the coaches poll. But the Gators dropped two spots in the AP poll to No. 12 after a 24-6 win on Saturday over Toledo in which they played without a number of players serving one-game suspensions. Tailback Matt Jones missed the game with a viral infection. But Jones is expected to play Saturday against the Hurricanes.
In the coaches' poll, Florida State has gained two spots to No. 10. The Seminoles are off on Saturday and next play host to Nevada on Sept. 14.
Miami received the most votes of any unranked team in the AP poll. The Hurricanes earned 127 points, just shy of Southern Cal (135).
Alabama is No. 1 in the AP poll, followed by Oregon, Ohio State, Clemson and Stanford. In the coaches poll, the Crimson Tide are in the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford and Clemson.
