FSU basketball hires Charlton Young as assistant coach
TALLAHASSEE — Coach Leonard Hamilton needed just a day to fill the opening for the assistant coaching job at Florida State.
Florida State has hired Georgia Southern head coach Charlton Young as the Seminoles’ new assistant. Young, a native of Miami, was Georgia Southern’s coach the past four seasons.
“He is an extremely knowledgeable basketball coach, a great skill developer and an outstanding recruiter,” Hamilton said. “Charlton is a great addition to our program because he complements our staff extremely well.”
Young, 41, was an assistant coach at Georgia Tech from 2006-09 before taking over at Georgia Southern, which went 14-19 last season. He has also been an assistant at Northwestern and Auburn.
He replaces Corey Williams, who was named Stetson’s head coach on Monday.
