'Frozen' actress Menzel to sing national anthem at All-Star Game
MINNEAPOLIS -- Aside from anticipating the rosters for the American and National leagues, one thing many fans look forward to at each All-Star Game is the lineup of musical talent that will participate in the event.
Major League Baseball unveiled that list Tuesday, with pop singer Idina Menzel -- who gained widespread popularity by singing "Let It Go" in the Disney movie "Frozen" -- will sing the national anthem prior to Tuesday's All-Star Game at Target Field. Menzel will also sing a rendition of "Forever Young" by Minnesota native and legendary rocker Bob Dylan.
In addition to Menzel, singer Aloe Blacc will have an on-field performance Monday before the Home Run Derby and will also sing at the All-Star Gala. Rock band Panic! At the Disco will perform on the field before the celebrity softball game Sunday. The Minnesota Orchestra Brass Quintet will play the Canadian Anthem before Tuesday's game, and country singer Joe Nichols will perform "God Bless America."
Several other musical performances will take place outside of Target Field, including the previously announced concert at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday that includes Imagine Dragons and Minneapolis hip-hop duo Atmosphere. Rock band O.A.R. and Minnesota-based a cappella group Home Free will both perform Tuesday at the All-Star Pregame Celebration, for which attendees will need tickets.
