Freudie Anne wins at Saratoga
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) Freudie Anne remained undefeated in three turf races, winning the Statue of Liberty Division of the New York Stallion Series by 1 1/4 lengths Thursday at Saratoga Race Course.
Already a stakes winner on dirt, 3-year-old filly Freudie Anne led all the way to capture her first grass stakes, running a mile in 1:35.56 to give jockey Jose Ortiz his third victory on the card.
Freudie Anne paid $6.40, $3.70 and $3.20 as the 2-1 favorite in a field of nine sophomore fillies. Loon River rallied for second, returning $6.90 and $4.60. Psychiatry paid $4.40 to show.
Amazing Anne, running on three days' rest following her runner-up finish against males in the NYSS Cab Calloway Division on Monday, finished fourth.
Trained by Eddie Kenneally, Freudie Anne broke her maiden on the grass last fall but didn't try the turf again until her front-running allowance victory in May at Belmont Park. She has five wins in nine lifetime starts with $248,540 in career earnings.
