Francona pleased after Indians first live batting practice session
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Despite some rain earlier in the day, the Indians were able to get in their first live batting practice session on Saturday. With this being the first time that the Tribe pitchers got to face hitters, manager Terry Francona was happy with how things went.
"Everyone threw the ball and felt fine," Francona said. "Some chose to swing while some just tracked the ball. There were no casualties which was good."
The sessions took place on four fields at the Indians Player Development Complex.
During his session, Trevor Bauer worked on his four-seam fastball and sinker. When asked about how he felt he did, the right-hander said the first live session of the season was weird like always but that it was good to face hitters.
"We'll see when we get into games. You judge things here more by the reaction of the hitters," he said.
The Indians will take live batting practice the next three days. The first Cactus League game is Tuesday against the Reds.
