Vincent Clerc scored two tries and France began its defense of the Six Nations title with a comfortable 27-6 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday.

Julien Malzieu also crossed the line on his debut and coach Marc Lievremont, who took over from Bernard Laporte after the World Cup, marked his first Six Nations game with a victory that promises much for the rest of the championship.

With four newcomers on the lineup, the French produced plenty of enterprising rugby and were rarely troubled by a Scottish lineup which has improved over the past six months but made many mistakes in front of their own fans.
