FOX survivor football picks for Week 15
Survive and advance is a popular sports mantra normally saved for the month of March and the madness that comes with it.
But thanks to the rapid growth of the NFL and fantasy football, games like FOX Fantasy Survivor can feed your craving for “win or go home” competition seven months early.
Thousands of football fans signed up and participated in the FOX Fantasy Survivor game last season. The hope is, with cash prizes on the line, we can eclipse that mark in 2011.
The premise is simple: pick one (1) team who you believe is going to win that week. The survivor catch remains that once you pick a team to win, you can’t pick that team again for the rest of the season. The good news is, even if you lose, you are still eligible to win cash prizes.
To assist you with your survivor selections, the FOXSports.com’s fantasy football staff will provide you their picks for the week.
Just remember the mantra: survive and advance. In a month, you could be $2,000 richer.
Week 14 Recap
Doug should be unanimously voted in as the fifth Baldwin brother. Seattle’s Mr. Everything downed a punt inside the five, blocked a punt, caught seven passes for 93 yards and scored a touchdown. Like Billy, Stephen and Daniel, he took a backseat to big brother Marshawn Lynch. The man, the myth, the Skittle-lover finished with his third consecutive game of 100 or more rushing yards and his ninth straight game with a touchdown.
St. Louis, well, they tried. Harmon, Halpin and Fowler all take the win and a Starbucks to go.
You could say Joel is a Beall-iever in Tebowmania. You could say that, but I wouldn’t suggest it. Thanks, in part, to Marion Barber, the Broncos managed another last minute rally to tie the game on a Matt Prater 59-yard field goal. The Bears running back then coughed up the ball in OT and allowed Tim Tebow to get the offense into field goal range once again and Prater sealed the deal.
Beall wins, Tebow wins and America wins.
On to Week 15’s survivor picks …
Week 15 Picks
Harmon – Packers
The Swollen Dome saved one of the big guns until Week 15. Right now, it sounds like Kyle Orton (finger) will face the Packers for the second time this season. When with the Broncos in Week 4, Orton passed for 273 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. With the Chiefs rushing attack on life support, the midseason acquisition will have to post those stats or better to have a chance to hand the Packers their first loss of the season.
Green Bay will play their first game without Greg Jennings who sprained his knee against the Raiders last week. Look for Donald Driver and Randall Cobb to step up in his place.
Fowler and Beall – Titans
The Titans believe Matt Hasselbeck (calf) will play Sunday against the winless Colts. Chris Johnson should see plenty of touches as the Colts have made few strides to improve against the rush. It’s on offense where Dan Orlovsky and the Colts should see a glimmer of hope. The Titans rank 20th in the league in both rushing (121.8 yards allowed per game) and passing (240.4 yards allowed per game) defense. Donald Brown and/or Joseph Addai will need to step up in order for the Colts to have a shot.
Halpin - Bills
Note: this was Halpin’s fifth choice.
Buffalo has lost six straight games. Six! The inconsistent play of Ryan Fitzpatrick is nauseating. The loss of Fred Jackson has definitely impacted the flow of the offense. The Bills seem lost on defense, especially against the run.
Miami may be without Matt Moore who suffered a concussion last Sunday. He did not practice Wednesday. If J.P. Losman gets the start, the offense will have to rely heavily on Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas. Brandon Marshall’s overall value also takes a hit.
