Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.
In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is quickly plummeting.
With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?
Marquette Golden Eagles basketball
"Wojo" has the Golden Eagles on the rise. Steve Wojciechowski's Marquette men are 8-2 after Saturday's white-knuckle win at Wisconsin. Marquette is now 3-0 in games away from home this season (including 2-0 in neutral-site games). The Golden Eagles have won seven straight games since a loss to Iowa, including a one-point win over No. 22 LSU on Nov. 23. The front line of Henry Ellenson (16.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds) and Luke Fischer (14.3, 7.8) gives Marquette hope with Big East play looming on the horizon.
Greg Monroe, Bucks C
Monroe outmuscled his frontline counterparts and was instrumental in helping the Bucks halt Golden State's 24-game winning streak to start the season Saturday night. In a 108-95 triumph, Monroe filled the stat sheet to the tune of 28 points on 11-for-16 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds and five assists. After resting a sore left knee Tuesday against the Lakers, the 6-foot-11 25-year-old is averaging 16.2 points per game and 9.8 rebounds this season. He's also shooting 52.5 percent from the field.
Packers RBs
Eddie Lacy and James Starks combined to churn out 195 rushing yards in Sunday's 28-7 win over Dallas, with both ball-carriers averaging better than 5.0 yards per attempt. The duo also produced three total touchdowns as Starks chipped in to help Green Bay's aerial attack by adding four catches for 32 yards and a score. Lacy and Starks were a big reason Green Bay (9-4) dominated in time of possession (37:48-22:12) and ultimately wore down Dallas.
Clay Matthews, Packers LB
The "Claymaker" returned to All-Pro form against "America's Team," producing a team-high six total tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and one QB hit, as the Packers rolled to a 21-point defeat of the Cowboys. Matthews spurred a Green Bay defense that limited the visitors to just 270 total yards, including just 99 through the air. So far in 2015, the seventh-year linebacker out of USC has 63 total tackles and 5.5 sacks. If Matthews can finish strong, perhaps the Packers can still fulfill their promise this season.
Wisconsin Badgers basketball
Forgetting for a second that iconic coach Bo Ryan just retired, the Badgers entered the week ranked 103rd in the NCAA's RPI rankings and sit with a rather pedestrian 7-5 record after Tuesday's win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Badgers' Saturday loss to in-state rival Marquette left them with three home losses this season. Wisconsin is shooting 41.2 percent as a team in 2015-16; last season, en route to 36 wins, Wisconsin shot 47.9 percent as a team. The Big Ten slate begins Dec. 29, against ninth-ranked and unbeaten Purdue. Interim head coach Greg Gard has a tough job ahead of him, it appears.
Davante Adams, Packers WR
Adams continues to fade to the background in Green Bay's passing game. On Sunday against Dallas, Adams produced just two receptions for 12 yards; he saw three total targets. The 22-year-old former second-round draftee out of Fresno State hasn't had more than 75 receiving yards in a game since Nov. 15. All told, Adams has 38 receptions this season for 355 yards and one TD, on 73 total targets.
Greivis Vasquez, Bucks PG
The veteran 28-year-old guard hasn't logged a minute of playing time since Nov. 27 and recently had surgery on his right ankle which will keep him out at least another three months. And the 10-16 Bucks could've used some veteran poise on Tuesday night, as they endured an 18-point loss to the 4-21 Lakers. A 6-6 native of Venezuela, Vasquez is averaging 7.1 points, 4.4 assists and 0.4 steals per contest this season, in 16 games played. He's also shooting 34.8 percent from the field -- far below his career mark of 42.0 percent.
