FOX Sports vs. DraftKings Week 1 Fantasy Football Contest

I feel like Paul Walker’s character from the first Fast and Furious movie…

If the Colts keep Montee Ball out of the end zone, like they did for the first four seconds of his TD-run, I get the win. Unfortunately, Ball reached pay dirt and Peter collected on the pay day with a final score of 114.24-110.78.

DRAFTKINGS VS. FOX SPORTS BOX SCORE - WEEK 1

For my squad, I went heavy on the Eagles. Nick Foles started shaky, but he ended the game on a positive note, throwing two touchdowns in the second half. However, my selections of Riley Cooper and Jordan Matthews weren’t the recipients of Foles’ TD passes.

On a positive note, Julio Jones didn’t score a touchdown either, but he did manage to catch seven balls for 116 yards.

I went with Vernon Davis at tight end because of Colin Kaepernick’s lack of distribution of touchdown passes from 2013. Davis would go on to score twice against the Cowboys.

The Rams D/ST was the biggest bust of the day. They didn’t create any turnovers and allowed the Vikings to score 34 points.

As for Mr. Jennings, his quarterback had a rough start, too. Tony Romo threw three interceptions on the day and only completed one touchdown pass late in the loss. Jason Witten’s two catches for 14 yards didn’t help much, either.

Other than those two players, CSURam88 had a very potent lineup. The rest of his skill position players scored in the double-digits. Roddy White led Jennings' team with 18.2 points from five receptions of 72 yards and a TD.

Julian Edelman’s six catches for 95 yards, and even 21 rushing yards, were second-best for my opponent.

To lose by less than four points to a juggernaut in the DFS world definitely gives me some confidence, and even a little bit of a moral victory, moving forward.

Peter's Week 1 Fantasy Football DraftKings Selections

RB – Montee Ball, DEN (7,000)

Denver is expected to score the most points of any team in the NFL. The Colts have a below average run defense and I expect Ball to have a huge game.

RB – LeSean McCoy, PHI (8,400)

The best running back in the game in the best running system in the NFL gets a juicy matchup versus the putrid Jaguars. I expect McCoy to be the #1 RB overall this season and this game should get him off to a hot start.

WR – Emmanuel Sanders, DEN (4,800)

Simply put, way too cheap on DraftKings at 4,800 with Wes Welker sitting out this game. I expect the Broncos to score and to score often and Sanders should have a big game.

Adam's Week 1 Fantasy Football DraftKings Selections

QB – Nick Foles, PHI (8,500)

It might not be the smartest idea to leak my quarterback choice to my opponent, but I’m confident enough that my decisions won’t impact Peter’s lineup. The Eagles are the heavy favorite against Jacksonville this week and the over/under total is in the 50’s. Foles is the fourth-most expensive QB on the market, but I think he has the potential to crack the top two in points, behind Peyton Manning, of course.

WR – Julio Jones, ATL (7,700)

It will be a shootout between New Orleans and Atlanta this Sunday, so I want the best receiver on the field in my lineup. Jones missed 11 games last season, but when he played people noticed. In three-out-of-five games he tallied over 100 yards receiving (99 yards in one game, too). In last year’s opener against the Saints, Jones caught seven passes for 76 yards and a TD. I’m thinking he surpasses those stats for 2014’s Week 1.

D/ST – Rams, STL (3,400)

The D/ST spot on your DraftKings lineup is a great position to find value. With Sam Bradford out, there is no reason to believe that the Rams will win against any opponent. However, St. Louis is a -3.5 point favorite against the Vikings this Sunday. A big reason to believe the Rams pull off the dubya has to do with their defense. Plus, I could see Tavon Austin returning a punt for a touchdown at some point during the game.
