Four Ohio players accept PIT invites
Four Ohio college players have accepted invitations to the annual Portsmouth Invitational all-star showcase for pro scouts beginning on Wednesday.
Among those on the list of 64 players headed for Virginia are Cincinnati's Justin Jackson, Ohio's Nick Kellogg, Youngstown State's Kendrick Perry and Toledo's Rian Pearson.
The PIT features an eight-team, four-day tournament format. The PIT is attended by NBA scouts and evaluators from a number of international teams; it's not generally for top-tier prospects, but the eyes of the NBA will be on the week's activities.
Perry is an athletic guard who rewrote the Youngstown State record books. Jackson is a defensive and rebounding specialist expected to get a look from multiple NBA teams, and Kellogg is Ohio's and the Mid-American Conference's all-time leading 3-point shooter. Ohio's D.J. Cooper attended the PIT last year and is now playing in Greece.
Notre Dame center Garrick Sherman, a native of Kenton, Ohio, also accepted an invitation.
