Foster: Texans changing to a winning mindset

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster has a quick solution for turning a 2-14 season into a successful one: have a winning mindset.

"It's changing our mindset," Foster said to KPRC reporter and former Texan Chester Pitts. "If you believe in something whole-heartedly I think it's contagious and you start coming together as a team and good things start happening. The ball starts bouncing your way."

The key, however, is not to let the losing attitude take over the locker room according to Foster.

"You don't say 'here we go again', you say 'alright we got to bounce back'," Foster said.

Foster also stressed the importance of having good leaders on the team, even naming Andre Johnson one of the most important leaders on the team despite him continuing to be at odds with the Texans.

Along with the team leaders expressing new confidence, Foster also believes the new coaching staff led by Bill O'Brien has brought new life and a winning attitude back to the Texans. Houston's new head coach wants to emphasize exploiting weaknesses of opponents, making player versatility a valuable asset. First-overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is already learning linebacker and Foster has been informed he will be playing a bigger role in the new offensive system.

While there are still some holes, such as at the quarterback position, on the Texans' roster heading into the 2014 season, the team is looking to improve greatly on its 2-14 record, with a goal of qualifying for the playoffs once again.
