Football phenom Sam Gordon becomes founding member of all-girls tackle league in Utah

Dynamic running back Sam Gordon made her name in 2012 playing against the boys. Now she's breaking new ground again after becoming one of 50 fifth- and sixth-grade girls to form an all-girls tackle football league in Utah.

"First game of girls tackle football, it was awesome," Gordon, now age 12, told KSL.com. "It was really awesome because girls can play with girls, and it's full-on tackle football."

Here are highlights from the season openers:

"The Utah Girls Tackle Football League was created in response to a high demand from the girls to play the sport in a league of their own," said league president Crystal Sacco, adding that it "reached its maximum participants within five days of the announcement."

She said it: A league of their own. Someone start drafting the movie script and get Tom Hanks on the line.
