Florida International falls at home to Louisiana Tech
MIAMI (AP) -- Kenneth Dixon had 183 yards from scrimmage and scored Louisiana Tech's only touchdown in a 23-7 victory over Florida International on Saturday night.
Known for his physicality, Dixon broke many tackles throughout the game and finished with 119 yards rushing and 64 yards receiving.
His 39-yard touchdown reception with 8:35 left in the game put the Bulldogs (2-5, 1-2 Conference USA) comfortably ahead 20-7.
Kyle Fisher was 5 for 5 on field goal attempts, scoring each time Louisiana Tech reached the red zone.
Justin Halley had two interceptions for FIU (1-6, 1-2). His second interception with 3:29 left in the third quarter gave the Panthers the ball trailing 12-7. The FIU offense, which was held to 197 total yards, went three-and-out.
A fourth-quarter interception by Sam Miller gave FIU another opportunity, still down 12-7. The Bulldog defense held strong again and Dixon's touchdown put the game on ice.
